Cruise Line Com
Question: What cruise line is best for a young couple going to Alaska? We want to have fun without drinking or gambling? We're 20 and 21, so we want a cruise line that isn't full of old clientel, and has some young immature (haha) stuff to do.
PS: Carnival is out of the question (even though they sound fun) because they dont do round trip to and from Seattle in July '08. (its for our honeymoon)
Answer: You can try vacationstogo.com. I understand that Holland America has some very good options. They may be a little more upscale.
Question: What is the market share of the big players in the cruise line industry? I need to know the market share of the big players in the cruise line industry, so like carnival, Norwegian, star, etc. THANKS!
For example) Carnival 50%, Norwegian 25%, Star 25% - %= how many cruises sold
Answer: CCL ownes carnival, Yahts of seaborne, princess, holland america and costa.
RCCL ownes royal caribbean and celebrity crusies
NCL ownes NCL and NCLA
CCL is the biggest player. 75%, RCCL 20%, NCLA 5%
Question: What's the best cruise line for a non-hoity-toity world-cruise? I want to take a world cruise, but I don't want to be around a bunch of snobs nor have a restrictive dress code. Would Princess or Holland America fit this bill? Which line is better? Are there any other options?
Answer: Never been on Princess, but have been on one Holland cruise - it was not "hoity-toity", but it was classy, in that people dressed appropriately for dinner [i.e. followed the suggested dress code], the service was excellent, and there weren't a bunch of rowdies seeing how much they could drink before they passed out.
To get a good overall idea of what the two lines are like, go to CruiseCritic.com, blick on "Boards", then browse the Princess and Holland boards.
Be aware that on an extended cruise like a world cruise, the passengers are likely to be older than the typical 7-10 day cruise. They're the ones who have the time to indulge in such a long trip.
Question: which cruise line is better royal carribean or carnival? im planning a cruise in december to go to the eastern carribean. i want to find out which cruise line is the best. like activities, food, and service.
Answer: That depends on you.
Activities on Carnival are "Fun Ship" based, and include things like hairy chest contests, pool games, towel folding demonstrations, and the like. Royal Caribbean is more likely to provide tours of parts of the ship, big band dancing, and the like.
Both have Bingo, Shows and other entertainment, casinos with all kinds of activities, pool games of some sort, karaoke, movies, kids events, and the like. The food is comparable with Carnival having a slight edge, and service is, IMHO, identical on the two.
I personally like Royal Caribbean more, but I am older (52) and like dancing.
Question: What cruise line is good for us? We are 3 Lovely ladies celebrating our 30th in 2010. We have decided to go on a cruise. We have also decided we want to go through the eastern Mediterranean/Adriatic sea. Our Budget is $AU6000 per person. We just need to find a good Cruise line that won't have to many mature age people celebrating retirement.
Basically we want to have fun!
Answer: Happy Birthday to 3 LOVELY LADIES. Like anywhere you cruise it will depend on time of year. Check out the major cruise lines like Princess.com or Royal Caribbean etc. and see the ports of call and activities offered to find one that fits your needs.
Hope you 3 have a great time and are not TOO WILD.
Enjoy.
Question: Was wondering what the wages were like in the service industy aboard a cruise line? I have been serving for around 7 years now. Kinda getting bored here in Kansas wanted a change of scenery. Just wanted to know if a cruise line position would be worth my time to pursue?
Answer: Tipping personnel are the staff with direct contact with the guests who pay them "tips". There are specified amounts of tips per particular positions which are advised to guests prior to embarkation and which vary from one cruise line to another. Such personnel are waiters, busboys /assistant waiters, bar waiters/waitresses, bartenders, cocktail waitresses, etc. Tipping personnel have a small base salary. Most of their earnings are tips. Approximate sample earnings in this group are (in U.S. Dollars per month):
Waiter from $2500 to $4000
Busboy / Assistant Waiter from $1500 to $3000
Bar Waiter / Waitress from $1000 to $2500
Bartender from $1500 to $3000

Question: What is the best, most luxurious cruise line that isn't outrageously expensive.? I want a cruise line that goes to interesting places. And please only answer if YOU HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN ON THE CRUISE LINE!!! AND I DON'T WANT DISNEY!!!
And i am a dude so i don't want to go on Olivia cruises for lesbians! I don't even think they let guys on the ship!
Answer: I have been on about 20 cruises on four different cruise lines; Princess, Celebrity, Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. The majority of my cruises have been on Norwegian and Royal Caribbean so I have been on many of their ships. The other cruise lines that normally compete with these cruise lines for passengers are Carnival, Disney, Cunard, and Holland America.
There are two things I think you should consider when you decide what's the best, most luxurious cruise for you, the beauty and comfort of the ship and the food and service.
Its been my experience that Princess, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean have the prettiest and most comfortable ships. I have heard that Holland America is also in that same category but I have not been on their ships yet, but do have a cruise booked on them right now. Cunard cruise line has two ship which are also grand.
I also think that Princess, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity have the best food and service with Celebrity being just a cut above the others in service.
So if you are looking for great cruise lines to go on any of these would provide the best and first class service that you are looking for. Now these are all the second tier of cruise lines as there are some like Crystal, Oceania and Silverseas that are considered top of the line and have cruise fares starting at about $4K to $5K per person for a 7 day cruise. That is significantly more than the ones I listed about where you can get a 7 day cruise for under $1K per person. Even balcony cabins and suites can be had on certain cruises for under $2K.
So Princess, Celebrity, Holland America, Royal Caribbean and Cunard would be your best bets for what you are looking for.
Question: Best Cruise Line for Mature Young Adults? My boyfriend and I are planning a cruise during March 2008. I am graduating college this year, and he is already in the workforce and we are both 21. We're looking for a cruise line that will offer fun activities that don't revolve around getting trashed. We also love any excuse to be formal. Is it safe to say we will enjoy the Royal Caribbean cruise more than the Carnival cruise? We want to avoid the typical spring break crowd, but not be the only younger people on the boat. Any advice?
Answer: I would avoid Carnival if you want to avoid slobbering drunks. I would also avoid Princess - my wife and I took a Pricess cruise this spring and, in our mid-thirties, were on the young end of the spectrum, especially if you discount kids.
I've never been on an RC cruise, but I suspect you will still be some of the younger people there. They key is to sign up for fun activites at the various stops. For instance, if you did a zip-wire or white water rafting trip, chances are there won't be too many grandparents on the trip.
But mostly, a cruise is about having fun with each other. If you make some friends, great, if not, who cares.
And all cruise lines, as far as I know, have formal nights, so you'll have chances to get dolled up.
Bon voyage
Question: When is the best time to take a cruise to Baja Mexico and a suggested cruise line? I live in las vegas nevada and I have never been on a cruise and I dont know anything about ithem or what to look for, what time of year to go ? Would love to get any suggetions out there. I dont have alot of $ so if anyone knows of a not too expensive cruise line that would be good. Look forward to any suggetions or stories. Thanks
Answer: for cheap prices go on non holiday seasons(christmass or summer holidays)and i suggest royal caribbean or carnival cruise lines
Price starts from around $350on a 3 night baja mexico cruise to ensenada
Price starts from around $400 on a 4 night baja mexico cruise to ensenada and Catinal island
go on both cruise lines website
good luke
happy trip
Question: The Norwegian Cruise Line or Royal Caribbean? We are planning on going on a cruise next year and want to go top of the line. Which cruse is better while also keeping in mind prices?
Answer: I prefer Royal Caribbean.
Royal Caribbean is a cruise line that caters to young cruiser and families. It has the advantage of having the most on-board activities. Things like ice skating, roller blading, mini-golf course, a full sized basketball/tennis court, the rock climbing wall, and on the new Freedom Class ships the surfing simulator, the Flowrider.
