Hawaii Airline
Question: Do airline staffs gives assistance while you wait for your connecting flight? I'm flying from P.I. to chicago w/ my 4mos old baby and worried how to get in-touch w/ my hubby during layovers from guam, hawaii & tx? Is there any special sim needed? (1st time traveler?
Do they still check the x-ray result on-board together with my k-1 visa packet?
Answer: A lot of what your asking isn't making much sense. P.I.? x-ray result on board?? k-1 visa packet?? Sim? Sim card??
As far as getting in touch with your husband in guam, hawaii and Tx (I'm assuming you're flying Continental here)...all are either US territories or within the US, and all should have pay phones in the terminals. It is not the airline's responsibility to provide you with a phone to call your relatives unless you have been delayed or cancelled at their doing. You will need to make your own contact arrangements to your husband at your own expense. As for assisting you to your connecting gates, etc., of course the airline staff will either assist your or get you assistance and information.
good luck.
Question: What internet site gives you the cheapest Airline Tickets?? Any advice on best times to fly?? My friends and I are planning a trip to Hawaii and are looking for the best deal. There are 4 of us. If anyone can tell us the cheapest time to fly and how to find it, that's the winner!
Do you think we should buy by the package? Or buy flight and hotel seperately?
Thanks!
Answer: Before May 31 is usually the cheapest.
try Kayak and bookingbuddy
Question: will any airline allow you to fly with 4 animals? I will be moving my family from Hawaii to Oklahoma later this year and have 4 pets, 2 dogs ( boxer and a pomeranian)and 2 cats, is there any restriction on how many pets can fly per ticketed passenger?
Answer: You need to check with the airline you are going to travel with and maybe shop around. Most fees are around 100 dollars one way, again dependent upon the airline. Also, you should be aware that certain airplanes can only take an alloted amount of animals depending on what the loads are and how many animals are flying on that particular flight. Sounds confusing I know. Personaly if I was travelling with that many airlines I would probably look at at a cargo airline vs commercial. Fed Ex maybe UPS etc...Hope this helps Good luck.
Question: Do children cost the same as adults for airline tickets? How would I find out? I have looked all over.? We are taking a trip to Hawaii next year, and I have looked on some websites but cant find anything.
Answer: Hi,
Children OVER AGE TWO DO cost the same as adults. Of course, if they are under age 2 (and sometimes you need a birth certificate to prove it), they can be a "lapchild" and you just have to tell the airline when you buy the ticket.
HOWEVER, I know on Alaska Airlines, for example, if you buy one of their vacation packages, some of the packages allow for kids to fly free. Otherwise, I have never heard of any other discounts for children or kids fly free. I also just saw on the news this morning that instead of offering discounts, airlines are charging more (like for calling to make your reservation instead of using the internet, extra bags, food, etc.) They also said on the same program (I think it was the CBS Morning News), that it isn't good to try to wait until the last minute in hopes of getting "last minute bargains." They said this doesn't happen anymore - that most planes leave fully booked and that it is better to book early. I hope this helped a little. Happy Traveling!
P.S. Just another little fact that it took me a while to find out - you ARE NOT required to bring the child's car seat on the airplane if you are purchasing an airline seat for them. You can either count the car seat as one of your bags and bring it with you, or, if you are renting a car, for about $7 per day, the rental car company will provide a infant/child seat (you just have to let them know in advance). If you aren't renting a car (and you are traveling under the carseat restraint rules of the U.S.), you can just tell the taxi or shuttle service that you need a car seat. If you do decide to take your car seat on the plane, you have to make sure it is "FAA certified." Take care...
Question: Unused airline ticket? I have found a old unused airline ticket from 1998 it was a full fair ticket - how can i found out if it is still good? Is United from LAX to Hawaii
Answer: The only way to get a definative answer is to contact UAL directly. They may allow you to credit the purchase price toward another ticket.
1-800-United-1 (1-800-864-8331)
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Question: Becoming an airline pilot help?? ? hi i will go to college in hawaii i first will attend community college then transfer to hawaii pacific university... what should i major in?? should i just do business or meterology??? also i know what certificates i have to get and all but roughly what will be the cost total??? since the airline industry is soo bad right now what do you advise?/ i just want to fly for a regional for now i dont really care if i ever make it to the majors i just want to fly planes for a living...
Answer: Get a degree in what you like and can do ok in.
Unless you're in the military, don't get trained in a college program.
Only the military and companies that hire test pilots care what you studied.
US$60,000.
Try both corporate and airline before deciding. There are other kinds of commercial piloting, too.
Question: What is standard size of carry-on luggage? I know each airline is different, but what is the usual standard size. I'm flying from Philadelphia to Hawaii and want to strap my skateboard to my backpack. Any help?
My flights go Philly to Dallas to Hawaii and then Hawaii to Dallas to Philly.
Answer: Rule of thumb is 45 linear inches TOTAL. What that means is you add the height, width and depth to see what they come up to at the longest point of those. (For example, if your skateboard is 24" long and 16" tall with the backpack, it cannot be more than 5" wide, you get the idea). Regardless of the 'standard' size it also has to fit in the overhead bin, if you are flying inter-island in Hawaii, some of those planes have REALLY small bins.
Question: Living in Hawaii. Please answer.? What is it like living in Hawaii? Please give pros and cons. Please be specific as possible. Would I have a good living if I was an airline pilot? Bringing in around $80,000 $100,000 a year? At this salary would I be able to afford a decent home and enjoy life (entertainment, dining out, etc.). What's the average income of people living in Hawaii?
Thank you very much! Mahalo a nui loa!
What is the best island to live on? I wouldn't live on Oahu. Too much of a big city. Which has less tourism?
Answer: Living in Hawaii is da bomb! There is not much down side about living here. We are named the "ICE" state because we have a bad drug problem here, we have semi-bad traffic, and terrible pedestrian accidents here. Thats the bad side
Thats a lot of cash for a pilot and with that kind of money you can make a living here in Hawaii thats sure. The average in come would be $50,000 a year. You can buy a lot of stuff with the salary you are getting just buy the cheap things in life you know.
Question: when is the best time to purchase tickets for hawaii? i read somewhere that airline tickets are more expensive during the weekends... i am leaving for hawaii in june and i was wondering if anyone knew when the best time to purchase tickets would be. i also need to buy 7 and i know that most websites only allow 6 tickets at time.... does it matter if i purchase it twice? will the rate still be the same?
also if anyone knows good websites where there are good deals that would be apprieciated.
thanks!

***btw... i am flying to hawaii from LAX (Los Angeles)
Answer: kayak.com, generally they say mid week (Wednesday) and/or after midnite 12am to 2am. From the West Coast anything under 380 USD is good. Especially since Aloha and ATA went bankrupt. difficult to predict what the market is going to do so hard to give solid advice right now.
Question: How do cats respond to moving to Hawaii? I will be moving my two cats, about 2 and 3 years old, from California to Hawaii in around a year. They are indoor only and have never moved. They are very mellow, but I am concerned about keeping them healthy and happy. I've read almost universally that sedation is NOT recommended, but I have to wonder, is even a very mild tranquilizer to simply calm them (not knock them out) hazardous? Even if they remain in the cabin?
I'm aware of all the quarantine procedures and I know we may need to fly at a certain time to avoid extreme temperatures. I believe ATA is the only airline that allows pets to remain in the cabin with their owners for the transPacific flight. I'm mostly curious about their behavior and attitude during and after the move. I'm afraid they'll be scarred for life after such a drastic change! Any suggestions for moving cats is much appreciated!
Answer: I am relieved to hear that ATA allows your pets to ride with you in the cabin! If your pet gets lost while in storage, you can't sue the airline because pets are considered "lost luggage". Riding in the cabin with you will make it easier on your feline friends during the flight!
I think you should talk to your vet about safe sedations or other ways to make your pets enjoy (as much as a cat can enjoy) the ride. Your vet may even surprise you and say that your cat should just be fine on it's own!
Many pets travel by plane every year and I don't think they get all that tramatized. I think your kitties will be a little nervous when the plan ascends and descends and probably a little jumpy when you first arrive in your new home. But do remember they're getting use to this new adventure and life too - do not try to push them into something quickly. They need time to adjust!
I see many cats that travel by plane in a roomy carrier, they're usually a mesh fabric so the people in security can see through the carrier (making it easier for them to check it). And I see many cats with collars and leashes. I think this is a great thing for your kitties! Just in case they get loose on the plane, having a leash on them will be able for you to get them back safely without upsetting fellow passengers by crawling on your hands and knees looking for your kitty!
Get your kitties use to collars/harnesses/leashes now, since you have a full year to prepare for this. When my cat first was trying out his harness he'd flop over and become deadweight. Do not let this deter you! Put the collar/harness/leash on at first for five minutes. And slowly move up the time every week (put this on daily!). By the time you finally move, your kitties should be use to wearing their "equipment" for many hours and be comfortable with them on during the flight.
When it starts getting closer to "move-time" start putting your kitties in the carriers with their leashes on. Start the same way as you did with the leashes, little time at first and moving it up. You can probably start off with 15 minutes and move it up from there. You want to make sure your kitties are comfortable sitting in their carriers for a few hours while they (and you!) make the flight.
Also, when you first arrive on the plane (or even call the airline before you leave) ask the stewardesses if it's alright, if your cats get too nervous if you can open up the carrier a little so you can pet your kitties to calm them down. They might not let you hold your kitties because people might have allergies (and they might not want your kitty to accidently escape!). Explain that they have leashes on and you have complete control! No sneaky kitties will get past you!
The stewardesses have probably also been trained to handle pets in the cabin and might even be able to suggest some tips (another good reason to call the airline before you move, to see if they suggest anything).
So, ask your vet about things that could make your kitties feel better about the move. Ask the airline (and/or stewardesses) about what they're experience is and what they suggest. And use your best judgement! Your kitties will depend on you to be calm during this move - so if you're nervous the whole flight, odds are they will feed off of that and be nervous as well.
Good luck with your move and I hope your kitties love Hawaii (I know I would!)!
