Hawaii Airlines Com
Question: Have moved to Hawaii already...have done tests on my animals already...what months can i fly them? I just heard rumors that the airlines do not transport animails during certain months of the year...wanted to know if anyone else has heard that rumor
Answer: Don't think so. Never heard of anything like that. There was a big deal about quarantine times, but Lingle has asked for those times to be reduced drastically so vacationers can bring pets too.
Welcome to Hawaii! I live Honolulu. Msg me if you have questions about Hawaii.
Question: Is there a direct flight? is there a direct flight from hawaii to philippines? how much would be the airfare? what airline would that be?
Answer: No there is no non-stop flight from Honolulu to Manila. You will have to connect in Guam or Narita. Your price will very depending on your dates, try to fly midweek when the price is cheaper, like Tues to Tues.
Question: United Airlines good or bad? I'm going to fly there August 11 and 18,2007 at nightish at like 6-10 to Hawaii and Back here in San Diego. I want to know on how your experience there and I wonder if they have food there too so just in case i can bring extra.
Answer: All of the airlines are about the same in Economy Class. The unfortunate trend in the past few years is to not offer meals on flights of less than 6 hours (California to Hawaii is usually less than 6 hours).
United's website (http://www.united.com/) says there is "food for purchase" on the flights between California and Hawaii. You should call them and ask exactly what is available for purchase so you can decide if you want to bring food with you: 1-800-864-8331

Question: how much does it cost? With the high cost of fuel what would it take to fill up a jumbo jet taking off from Atlanta Ga. flying to Hawaii? I'm sure it is THOUSANDS.....How can a airline make a profit even with a full plane of people at 1,000 a piece. Does the goverment help with any of the cost?
Answer: I think a 777 flying from Atlanta to Hawaii would use about 21,000 - 22,000 gallons of fuel. I think Delta says it uses 20,000+ gallons to fly from Cincinnati to Honolulu. I am not sure how much the airlines are paying for gas but I do know the price is less than what we pay at the pump because the fuel our cars use is more refined. What the airlines will do is find out how much it will cost to break-even and also how popular the route is and then adjust accordingly. That is why the airlines come out with a new schedule every so often. The airlines are doing a better job of not flying unprofitable routes and they have scaled back on the number of flights so that is why you are seeing more crowded flights. Jet fuel is the second biggest expenses for airlines after employee salary. As for government help, I am not sure about that because America is a free enterprise and the airlines are not government run. But who knows what the lobbyists are doing.
Question: Has anyone relocated a dog over 8 or 9 years of age from a very warm area to a cold area? For example, anyone ever relocated an older dog from Hawaii to the mainland - a dog that has only lived in a warm tropical climate their whole life? What were your experiences? What airline did you use? Any problems? What time of year did you travel? How is your dog doing in the colder climate?
Answer: couple in my whippet club moved from California to Delaware - dogs came with them they survive and are doing fine here (and recall whippet do NOT have a heavy coat)
Question: help! i am afraid of flying. what should i do? i am flying from hawaii to washington? somehow i have been really scared of flying. i rode in an airplane before but for a short period of time going to outer islands. i am from hawaii and i will be flying to washington state in december. i am going to be riding hawaiian airlines.
i really hate turbulence and i know sometimes its fun when taking off because you get a rush.
after hearing the news about travis and dj am survived the plane crash i was really scared of flying even more.
what should i do? i was thinking about taking sleeping pills so i can sleep during the plane ride. just a small turbulence i get really freaked out and then i can't really sleep during the plane ride.
i really dont want to ride in a small airplane. do anyone of you know if the hawaiian airlines airplane is the big kind of airplanes that fly to washington state?
Answer: No reason to be scared, the probabilities of being in a plane crash are very slim. A pilot once told me that you are more likely to die taking a shower than in a plane. Just relax, take a good book, sit in the middle (not near the window) and just forget where you are and lose yourself within the story.

Answer: dude im a pilot so i know a lot of safety and stuff the fact it you will get in a crash it will be on your way to or from the airport you have a verrryy small chance of anything going wrong in the plane and if it does it could safely land in the ocean... alcohol always seems to help ... but turbulance is just nothing its a natural occurance nothing can go wrong during it its safe ... as long as you have your seat belt on lol... the pilots are professionals they logs thousands of hours and believe it or not flying an airplane gets really easy after you log about 100 hours its just a skill and they have it so you have nothing to worry about just enjoy it think about this 200 years ago people could only dream of flying... 100 years ago people could only dream lol now its just wow. chances are you will fly in a 767 or 777 oceanic those are my favorite aircrafts too...
Question: there is a rule that for every 1,000 ft in elevation, the plane can glide for 10 mi? When airline pilots travel over water, they
say to each other "we have now reached our
point of no return."
But mathematically, if a commercial jet
flies 45,000 ft, it should be able to glide for
450 miles......or is it 45 miles?
how does one fly safely to Hawaii--2600 miles out?
Answer: That would be a 52,800 ft glide with a 1,000 foot loss of altitude or a glide ratio of 52.8 to 1 if you are using statute miles instead of nautical miles
Your 45 mile glide would be more realistic for an airliner.
Some examples
A Cessna 150 has a 7:1
Sailplanes as high as 60:1
Fabric hang gliders average about 12:1
Paraglider 9:1
Airliners about 17:1
The space shuttle about 1:1
The point of no return would depend on wind speed and direction; the heading the aircraft would have to take; and the nearest runway the aircraft could safely land
Question: Confiscated items flying from LAX to Hawaii........? I would like to hear any problems if any that anyone encountered about items they brought with them to the airline. I wanted to bring a big bottle of shampoo, conditioner (the large Costco size) and such with me but now I hear they can only be 3 oz of smaller. What if I store them in my luggage? Will they be thrown out? I read the airline rules, but all they really talk about are batteries. Just curious to see what others have experienced.
Answer: you can pack all those kinds of things like shampoo, mouth wash etc in your checked luggage without any problem
it's only carry on that can't be any larger than 3oz
Question: Can my kid use my Hawaiian air miles? i have 35,000 miles and my kid wants to use them to go to hawaii through hawaiian airlines,is it possible to put them under his name?
Answer: I know you can transfer Hawaiian Airlines miles, however, I'm not sure if you can transfer them to other people. As far as I know, they are only transferrable between other mile programs.
At any rate, if you wanted to transfer them, you would have to call Hawaiian Airlines at: 1-877-426-4537. That is their mileage department. They can tell you what is allowed and if you can give them to your kid, then they can do it for you. Either way, you will have to call them directly. I hope this helps!
