Cruise Hawaii To Australia
Question: Is there sea transportation from hawaii to australia or japan other than a cruise line? no planes, no cars, just a boat. you know, the way they used to travel before planes. (no cruise lines)
Answer: No. There are cargo ships, research vessels, etc., but no passenger lines other than cruise ships.
40 years ago, students at Honolulu's East-West Center travelled from Asian Countries by ship to Honolulu, so they had two or three weeks of getting to know their new classmates at sea before they ever got to Honolulu or started school.
Surface travel for passengers hasn't really been economically viable for decades, though. Even cruise ship travel from Asia or North America to Hawaii is infrequent.
Question: Does anyone know of a cruise that goes from the US to Australia/Oceania? Does anyone know of a cruise that goes from the US to Australia/Oceania?(Not Hawaii, although it can be a port)
I know of ones that go from Asia to Australia/Oceania, but not from the US.
Answer: Cunard sails from US to Australia as part of its world cruise. Holland American and Princess also have cruises that will sail to Australia.
Question: 93 day Cruise around the world from Southampton, UK? This is not a question but more a statement.
I know we have had a few questions on this site asking about cruises to Australia or around the world that has no flying to do.
P & O do a round the world trip in 93 days costing from 8000 pounds. You take in countries such as Spain, South Africa, Malaysia, Far East, mauritius and another Indian Ocean stop, Australia, New Zealand, Moorea, Tahiti, Hawaii, San Francisco, South America. What a fab tour and it leaves from Southampton UK.
I would recommend you look on the P & O website for more info.
Answer: On the previous question about world cruises, that was what I said, go P&O.
The problem is that some people on yahoo go after you and give you thumbs down, they insist on replying to questions they have no real clue about and give everybody else low grades.
Like Tivogal replying to questions about employment with cruise ships which, he or she, has no clue about.
I did a world cruise on P&O working, it was not great for one reason only, there are no overnights and only 3 late sails, in Hong Kong, Sydney and Rio.
All the other ports we sailed at 6 or 7pm which is a shame.
Also, on 88 days, there were 52 sea days, I think, which is boring.
Question: I'm planning a trip for myself and 5 of my closest girlfriends. Where should we go? I'll be celebrating my birthday in a few months. Each year I do something different. I've been blessed with a successful career and great friends. I've had the same friends for well over a decade. I'm planning on taking 5 of my closest friends on an all expenses paid week long vacation. However, I can't decide where to go or what to do. I'm debating between
Las Vegas
Hawaii
Australia
or
A southern Carribean cruise
We are all single women in our early 30's. My budget for this is no more than $20-$25K. What would you do?
Answer: no one can decide for u,, u know what u d like to do most. or else if u re really thorn up each of u cast a vote bt its only fair that ull decide :)
ill say as long as u are with good friends it does nt matter much where u are.
if i had to make the decision i would choose australia because the vairety of things to do once there is endless and assuming that u re american u ll experience atotally different culture
anyway i wish u the best of luck and best regards for ur birthday

Question: Should we honeymoon in Hawaii? My fiancee and I are planning to go on a honeymoon in late June. We figure for about the same price as a week or so in Hawaii (option 1) we could take an Alaskan cruise, stay in Vancouver a couple of days, and even go to a cheaper all inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta for 4 days (option 2). Option 3 is a cruise to the Bahamas or Galapagos Islands. Option 4 is Australia, but I'm concerned about late June being a bad time of year. I'm probably more adventurous than her as she is a bit cautious, but I think we both would like a good mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation. I'm partial to option 2 as I've traveled a lot, & done the Volcano thing (Costa Rica), but she hasn't traveled anywhere hardly at all. If we choose the Hawaii option, what is the best way to see Hawaii? Any suggestions for Hawaii, the other options, or something else. Europe's out as I've been there 3 times myself recently and it's expensive. Time should not be a problem, as we are taking 3 - 4 weeks off.
Answer: I vote for Hawaii or the Galapagos Islands.
Hawaii would be great in late June. Not too hot!
I'm not sure what an Alaskan cruise would be like in June. Granted, since the Ice caps are melting fast, this might be your only opportunity to see them.
Avoid the cruise or the Caribbean. Culture is pretty hard to experience in all inclusive type places.
If you go to Hawaii, the best way to see it is to bounce around a little.
Spend 3-4 days in Waikiki and rent a car and drive around the island....no need to stay in just one spot.Just don't camp...camping is weird in Hawaii, very unsafe. We were wildly surprised by this. Plus they have a bizarre wild chicken problem!
Then, go to Maui for 3 to 5 days. The rainforest trip should is better on with a tour group, but doing everything else is better by car. I'd stay in a villa or condo though. There's more independance and a lot more affordable. Plus there are some great places to stay. Kihei is cheap, but, the beaches aren't great. Lahaina would be a great central place to stay! Explore the beaches and restaurants. What great about Maui is that the landscape differs so dramaticaly depending on the side of the island you're on.
Go to the Big Island for a few days..and perhaps pick another island!
Have fun!
Question: Have you done the Tubing the Ditch expedition on Kauai? We are cruising for 7 nights in Hawaii and are looking at shore excursions to book. The tubing looked interesting. Has anyone done this and would you recommend it? We are travelling to Hawaii from Australia so we want to have a memorable holiday!
Answer: Yes. I would say a Na Pali Coast tour is MUST better. Tubing was kind of boring and very hot.
Question: were would u vacation? I vacation to alot of different places. I am more of a "activity" person rather than just the "sight seeing" person. Been on a bunch of cruises to the caribbean and places like that, been in the navy for 8 years so been to alot of places. I want to take a week or 10 day vacaton to somewhere but can't really come to a decision of where I'd like to go. anyone have any good ideas of where a GREAT vacation spot would be? either in conus or oconus. doesn't matter. Thought about Rome Italy, Tokoyo Japan, Sydney Australia, Hawaii, Brazil, Dubaii, just can't decided. Need some opinions!
thankx
Been to monaco and japan and a bunch of other places that people have mentioned already. I should've been more specific of where I've already been.
Been to:
Poland, Germany, Ireland, Amsterdam,
Africa, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Dubaii, Bahrain, scottland, croatia, malta, Monaco, sweden, Virgin Islands, cabo san lucas, jamacia, belize, cozumel, caymen islands, France, England,....Thanks for everyones replies, I'm leaning more to Sydney australia but also considering Japan. I am BIG into coral reef diving so look like australia will be my pick. thanks everyone.
Answer: You should try going to Japan, I have been there every summer, and it is just amazing how everyone makes you feel welcomed. Plus, the amazing lights in the city is just absoulutely beautiful. There's a disneyland there, traditional holidays (depending on the season), but if you go to their temples, there are usually some activities you could do... I recomend the summer "matsuri" it's very traditional with different food, games, dances and much more...
i hope i helped you decide ....
Question: Where have you cruised to?? How many of the following places have you cruised to; how many do you want to cruise to?
Alaska
Baltic
Caribbean
Bahamas
Mediterranean
Mexico
Hawaii
Panama Canal
New England/Canada
South America
Australia
Asia
South Pacific
World cruise
Answer: I have cruised in the Caribbean and South America...
And I would love to make a World cruise
Question: I'm 17 years old looking for a job somewhere overseas for the summer 07. where should i look for a job abroad? i'm 17 and i am looking for summer 07' job overseas somewhere like (italy, costa rica, england, france, monaco, australia, european countries, 1st world countries etc..). I looked at resorts, hotels, but i couldn't find any results. where should i look for summer employment? i am willing to do most things, especially something recreational. i only speak english with little spanish, french, and sloevene.i also looked at cruise ships but they wont hire minors. i am also looking at jobs in hawaii. please someone help me.
Answer: Hawaii doesn't constitute abroad. but is would suggest Sweden or Norway. Both countries require their people learn English and have high wages. And a drinking age of 16 for beer and 18 for the hard stuff. Don't do the cruise ship thing you'll be locked below deck when your not working and work long shifts.
Question: working abroad? has anybody of you an idea of how to work abroad? right now i live in austria (where i'm form) but i wanted to work abroad e.g. in the US - in Alaska on a Cruise ship - but there's the problem with the green card! or getting a job in a hotel on hawaii or in australia....so.....any ideas what i could do? how do i make an application (thru the internet?), do i get there first & then start looking for a job??
Thanx guys!
Answer: You probably first need a visa. I don't know why you can't get a green card, but if you don't have one, or a student visa you'd be working in the country illegally, and that would cause you problems with employers...like them not paying you.
