Lahaina Maui

Question: I'm staying at the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui in a week, where is the closest fitness center I can access? I know that the Lahaina doesn't have one, but I need to continue to stay in shape for when I leave for the Navy in the middle of January. Can anyone help me?

Question: My boyfriend & I will be spending a day in Maui mostly Lahaina and Kaanapoli. What do you recommend we do? We are looking for inexpensive laid back fun things to do. Cool local shops and restaurants would be nice.

Answer: In Lahaina there are a ton of shops and restaurants . Its really fun to just walk around down there. You can go to Boss Frogs and rent snorkeling gear for pretty cheap. Also, in Kaanapali, there are a lot of activities to do like parasailing and stuff like that. It can run about $60 per person, but its totally worth it. Check with your hotel to see if they have an activity desk that you can book activities at. You may even get a deal.

Question: Where can I snorkel in Maui/Lahaina/Molokai without taking a boat? Meaning, what beaches can you snorkel off? Also I am looking for a very plain/basic motel/hotel in Lahaina/Molokai. Nothing fancy; just a bed and bathroom.

Answer: I went to Maui and rented a car and just stopped when I say a bunch of cars parked on the side of the road. That's where people were snorkeling...

Question: What is the most secluded beach in west Maui between Lahaina and Kapalua?

Answer: Secluded isn't the right word for the area you're describing. I was on one beach there--Kahekili by the Westin--when a cop chased a fugitive to a spot about 8 feet from me, urging him to get on the bleep ground before the cop tasered his bleep! I think the perp had stolen a car--his accomplice ran the other way. On the other hand, the snorkeling there was fabulous! Fleming beach might be slightly less crowded if the Ritz is still under construction, but maybe not.

Question: What are some good clubs in Lahaina, Maui. Where can I find them?

Question: Has anyone stayed on the north-west side of Maui (near Lahaina)? I'm going in July and was wondering about any great deals, hotels, or must dos while I'm there. Oh, and also how the taxi/shuttle system is there. My friend is getting married and staying at the Noelani Condominium Resort, so anything near that would be greatly appreciated! Also, if anyone had any good packing ideas (ie what I need to bring, what I can easliy find in Maui, etc) I don't really need to know how to get there, more so just what to do while I'm there and what to bring. However, I'm not renting a car (transportation will be provided for her guests) and if anyone else needs a roomy we'll split the costs.

Question: Is The Westin Maui Resort in Lahaina as bad as people say? I am staying at the Westin Maui Resort and Spa in lahaina in January. It is an expensive property to stay at. I have read a bunch of reviews and they are 1/2 and 1/2. Either people love it or think it is a dump. Does anyone have a good evaluation of this property?

Answer: We've stayed there a couple of times. It's a great place to stay with plenty of amenities. The grounds are well manicured, the pools are terraced with the upper most level being reserved for adults only, complete with spa and bar. You also have the ability to use the facilities at the two other Starwood properties on Kaanapali beach , and charge the expenses back to your room at the Westin. It's walking distance to an ABC store not to mention a couple of junk food outlets. Question: Cheap eats in the Kannapali and Lahaina area in West Maui? new to the area, looking for non-touristy places to grab a bite, know any inexpensive places? also any good places to get groceries?

Answer: Good inexpensive restaurants on the west side of Maui (Kaanapali-Lahaina area) are Honokowai Okazuya on the Lower Honoapiilani Road in Honokowai Cool Cat Cafe in Lahaina CJ's Deli on the Honoapiilani Highway just outside of Kaanapali Best prices on groceries on the west side are at Foodland in Lahaina. But for less expensive restaurants and groceries stores, you are going to have to leave the west side and go to the largest city on Maui, whichi is Kahului. Then you will be getting away from the tourist areas and eating-shopping with the locals, where prices are always less.
