Question: Where is the best place to get married in maui? What would be the best place within financial reason to get married in maui. A hotel? which one? I have about 15 guests to entertain for the event. Thanks
Answer: Beaches are free. Then you can go to brunch or dinner afterwards. Most people get married in the morning hours there.
Take a look at the Hawaii local chat boards at http://talk.theknot.com for ideas.
Question: Looking for a house for a wedding in Hawaii...want to have ceremony and reception there. Maui or Lanikai beach? in Oahu...any ideas where I can find a house that allows these kinds of events to be held? Only need it for one day. Thanks!
Answer: Try contacting some of the owners on www.vrbo.com. Good luck.
Question: Things to do in Maui Newyears? My Best friend and I will be going on our annual trip to Maui this year. However, previously, we have gone in October or November. This time, we decided to go for New Years. We are in our late 20's, and are looking to see if there is any events going on? Like, fireworks
Answer: Yeah, there are fireworks. BUT, the best shows for New Years are in the Filipino neighborhoods so drive around between Wailuku and Kahului and get lost in these areas and you will enjoy the show. Forego the ones off the West side of the island they last a whole of 5 minutes! To buy, you can get plenty at the local Long's Drug Stores....enjoy.
Question: Can you recommend a travel insurance provider? This is to cover my expenses in the event that I have to cancel my trip to Maui in April. I've already paid the $5,000+ for airfare and hotel (for three). NOT looking for health insurance. I've got that.
Answer: These have offices all over the world

Question: Bachelor Party in Maui - Any Tips? My friend is getting married in Maui in August. We are looking to throw him a bachelor party the Tuesday before the wedding. We are looking to make it an all day event, from some fun activity during the day, fun place for dinner, and hit up some popular bars/clubs in the evening. If you have been there, and have any suggestions on what we could do, where we could eat, and/or where we could drink, please share them.
Thanks a bunch!
Answer: Day event: GOLF or the beach. I would also suggest going to Oahu for the day-(flights go back and forth all day, and they're pretty cheap). Maui is lacking the "big city" atmosphere that you may be looking for. Oahu has Waikiki, which has a LOT to do! (My sister used to live there). If you go there, be sure to check out Duke's, which is right on Waikiki Beach. It's a pretty cool bar in a nice hotel, and there are lots of (attractive) people to watch there, and it's not a bad place to have dinner. Skip the luaus, because while the offer AWESOME food, they are on the other side of the island, and you won't get back to the big city until late at night. You could also go to the mall, and eat at Hooter's, or the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. There used to be a bar/club called Scruples there that was pretty cool, but I would probably recommend the club at the W hotel over that. It's an upper class club, and it takes a while to get in, so go early, or plan on slipping the doorman about $50 per person to skip through the line. Fox and Hound is a pretty cool bar that is pretty chill for a casual cocktail. There are TONS of strip clubs there. Among them is Femme Nu, and one that I think is called Platinum-(could be something else though). Either way, all of the well-known strip clubs feature beautiful girls there, as Hawaii is filled with beautiful people. BEWARE of street-walking working girls, as many of them are actually men.
Question: Destination wedding, small guest list, who do we invite to the bridal shower? My mom and future mother in-law have requested I put together invite lists for the showers they are each planning. We are getting married on Maui in August, and kept the invite list minimal. However, we are having a reception back home in October. Is it appropriate to extend the invite to people that are included in the reception, although they were not invited to the wedding? As untraditional as the destination wedding is, we still want to have some traditional aspects to other events.
Answer: I think it would be OK. It depends on the crowd involved...some people may say that you are just after more gifts but I don't think that sounds like the case.
Perhaps you can have a guest or a videographer make a video of the wedding in Maui to show back home at the reception. give out burned copies as favors. Then everybody will still be able to have a part. I'm doing that since most family can't travel and we will also include one of the votives that we burned during the ceremony with the video. It might be a little extra but I wanted to make sure people didn't think we had married away just to exclude them or that they weren't missed.
Question: Anyone very familiar with Kihei in Maui? We'll be staying in Kihei. Can anyone recommend some 'must' places to eat, shop, events....things to do in this area? Mahalo!
I have been on the island before but haven't spent much time in Kihei. If you can, please be specific about places in Kihei. Thanks!
Answer: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g...
will help you find places. You must try Da Kitchen, a local eatery that's dirt cheap, great food, more than the average person can eat.
Once you get there, you will quickly find the places to shop and great food, stay away from the pricy places, go to where the locals eat, there are NO bad restaurants, just some that have more ambience.
Being from Hawai'i, it pains me to see folks get taken in by high priced places but if you insist on "atmosphere" that's a personal choice.
If you like Chinese food, these are usually reasonable. But don't be afraid to ask the locals, they are eager to help.
Question: Wedding in Maui? This is for my daughter in Feb 09'. What kind of favors should we provide for the wedding party or should we just hold a large party for all in the wedding a couple nights before and provide each with a dvd of the event as a rememberance?
Answer: We didn't do favors and nobody seemed to care! The DVD idea is expensive but cute. I think people would appreciate it.
Question: Are travel agents really helpful? If i already have my plane tickets for Maui and I still need to get a Hotel, rent a car and plan events for 8 days should i still seek for a travel agent? Is it worth it?
For some reason I've had the idea in my head that they kinda scam you. lol Am i wrong?
Answer: Yes, you are wrong. Like every profession, there are many professionals and there are a few hacks. However, a good, professional agent can be invaluable. They will give advice, do research, answer your questions, and help you through any problems.
I formerly worked as a travel agent and for a travel website. My experience is that many people can book a trip on their own using the Internet, especially if the trip is simple, they are knowledgeable and experienced travelers, or they are willing to put time into doing proper research. Everyone else should use a travel agent. I've seen inexperienced travelers make mistakes that a good travel agent would never make. They range from minor (overpaying for airline tickets or booking a run-down hotel in a bad neighborhood) to catastrophic (showing up at the airport for an international flight with no passport and being refused boarding by the airline).
However, you may find that travel agents will not be interested in booking just a hotel and a rental car for you. Or, they might have a service fee for it. Agents will go broke handling just hotels and cars. There is not enough commission in it to cover the cost of their time doing it, let alone allow a profit.
