Question: Can you tell me what Oahu is like in the middle of November? There are several places that we are going to visit. Waikiki, north shore, Waimanalo Beach, Hanauma Bay, Haleiwa. I want to know what kind if conditions can I expect in those areas. Is it safe to swim in those areas? Is the water warm? Does it get cold at night? Are there a lot of sharks or turtles?
Answer: Waikiki is calm, while the North Shore (which houses Haleiwa) is hosting surfing competitions. I suggest you not go to Waimanalo. It's not a safe place.
Hanauma Bay...I'm really not sure if there's high surf in November. But you can call and ask. Parking is tight in both Hanauma Bay and the North Shore, so get there early.
It does get cold at night.
If you're not a strong swimmer, STAY AWAY from the North Shore and (maybe) Hanauma Bay.
Don't worry about sharks. Just don't swim at night. Turtles, not so much.

Answer: Tourists are here all day everyday. No matter the time of year.
Waikiki is calm, but crowded. As always.
North Shore has surfing competitions during November all the way to February, because that's how long the surf lasts. And we're not talking a small waves. We're talking about 25 ft for these competitions. It's fun to watch the surfers, and it gets crowded. So, you can cross out the North Shore for swimming (and Haleiwa, since Haleiwa is part of the North Shore).
Hanauma Bay...I'm not positive whether this area gets high surf or not at this time, it probably doesn't since it's located in the East and if not, it is safe to swim. It's protected and I suggest you get there early as parking is limited.
In all areas it does get cold. It rains too.
