Haleiwa Oahu

Haleiwa Oahu

Question: Can you tell me what Oahu is like in the middle of November? There are several places that we are going to visit. Waikiki, north shore, Waimanalo Beach, Hanauma Bay, Haleiwa. I want to know what kind if conditions can I expect in those areas. Is it safe to swim in those areas? Is the water warm? Does it get cold at night? Are there a lot of sharks or turtles?

Answer: Waikiki is calm, while the North Shore (which houses Haleiwa) is hosting surfing competitions. I suggest you not go to Waimanalo. It's not a safe place. Hanauma Bay...I'm really not sure if there's high surf in November. But you can call and ask. Parking is tight in both Hanauma Bay and the North Shore, so get there early. It does get cold at night. If you're not a strong swimmer, STAY AWAY from the North Shore and (maybe) Hanauma Bay. Don't worry about sharks. Just don't swim at night. Turtles, not so much.
